Sonic Boom Rebrand
Project Overview
Seattle indie record store, Sonic Boom Records, embarked on a rebrand to update its image and create better brand consistency. The project focused on revamping the store's visual and digital presence while maintaining its core values of authenticity and community. The rebrand aimed to appeal to a wider audience of music listeners.
-
Sonic Boom is facing challenges in a competitive market due to weak brand recognition, a limited target audience, and an underdeveloped online presence, which could be costing them customers in the digital age.
-
Sonic Boom targets music lovers, aged 20-35, who are passionate about vinyl and CDs. They value physical media and the in-store experience of discovering indie music, which fosters a strong community. This focus attracts younger enthusiasts entering the scene, creating a shared space for all music lovers.

WEBSITE HOMEPAGE
We wanted the website to immerse visitors in the world of Sonic Boom while still maintaining clarity and usability. Textures and images from live shows are at the forefront of the design, but are supported by a clear layout.
INSTAGRAM ADS
Templates were created for Instagram story ads. The three templates demonstrate branding applied to different use-cases; a new featured release, highlighted new releases and a live show announcement.
NEWSLETTER EMAIL
Newsletters are another important tool Sonic Boom can use to engage with it’s audiences. This email template demonstrates how branding can be applied effectively to email campaigns.
BRAND APPLICATION
Branding was further applied to various physical assets. We wanted to demonstrate the flexibility and effective brand communication possible across different mediums.
